Conor Gallagher opened the scoring for Chelsea early on, getting onto the end of a deflected Malo Gusto pull-back to fire past Andre Onana before Cole Palmer doubled Chelsea's lead from the spot. Man United mounted an impressive comeback before half-time, with Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes firing the Reds back into the game. It was the Red Devils that took the lead in the second half, and led until 90+10, when Noni Madueke was brought down and Palmer added a second. Reacting to the last-gasp winner, Goldbridge couldn't believe the state of United's defence as he exclaimed: 'What are we doing? What are we attacking for? They're idiots.' Upon viewing Palmer's goal, Goldbridge yelled: 'Goal. I don't want to do this anymore! I don't want to f***ing do this anymore. What a f***ing joke. What are they doing?' He continued: 'F***ing hell. What's the point? What is the point? 'That is the biggest f***ing injustice I have ever seen. That is the biggest injustice I've ever f***ing seen.'
